Warmer days are coming and the fun festivals are returning after a two-year break. From the amazing beaches to great festivals, the beautiful province of PEI is the place to be all summer long. Listed below are 15 summer festivals to get you excited for a fun summer season.

The Charlottetown Festival

 

All summer long, the Confederation Centre of the Arts showcases Canadian theatre. This year, “Anne of Green Gables, the Musical” and “Tell Tale Harbour” are on stage all season long. Through the season, lots of shows will take the stage or shorter runs.

PEI Potato Blossom Festival

Next to Anne of Green Gables, PEI is most known for its delicious potatoes. This year, potatoes are expected to be harvested in mid- to late July. What better way to mark the abundant potato harvest than with a fun festival! From the potato peeling contest to the cribbage tournament to the beauty pageants, the pool tournaments, and pancake breakfasts, there is an event for all ages to take part in at this popular festival.

River Clyde Pageant

An event so big that it needs two weekends to be celebrated! During the River Clyde Pageant, New Glasgow is the stage for giant puppets, stilt-walkers, musicians and other performers from across PEI. The stage overlooks the beautiful Gardens of Hope.

Annual Mermaid Tears Seaglass Festival

PEI’s beaches are world famous and you can often find gorgeous seaglass and weathered beach wood washed up on shore. Spend a fun Sunday afternoon combing the beach to try to find the best piece sea glass. Of course there will be mermaids and pirates to meet over the weekend, along with fun community events.

Cloggeroo Folk Festival

Next to potatoes and beaches, PEI is well-known for its fantastic folk music, and the Cloggeroo Folk Festival is the newest festival on the island. The 2022 lineup has yet to be announced, but the festival previously welcomed Amanda Jackson and the Beck Sisters, among others, and that’s some quality folk artistry.
