The city of Niagara Falls will have plenty to do come early April when people visit for the 2024 total solar eclipse.
Niagara Falls is under the path of totality and is already filled with observation decks and viewing areas. The eclipse over the river is set to make for a beautiful sight and can be enjoyed from many of Niagara’s attractions and waterfall viewing areas.
The city has much to offer in tours, experiences, dining, shopping, and addition natural areas or trails. The city is also easy to navigate for visitors with WeGo, Niagara-on-the-Lake Shuttle, and Niagara Regional Transit.

Viewing the Eclipse in Niagara Falls
There numerous places around Niagara Falls in Ontario for solar eclipse viewing on April 8, including from the busy sidewalks of the Niagara River Parkway. From here, visitors get great views of the river and two sets of falls. Niagara City Parks also have a few recommendations on where to go for extra activities along with viewing.
- Niagara Parks Power Station will host Astronomy in Action from April 5-8 with NASA and CSA scientists on-site to answer any questions.
- Kids can head to the Table Rock Centre April 6-8 for Mad Science for Kids programming, activities, and workshops.
- Heartland Forest Nature Experience in partnership with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada: Niagara Centre hosts a variety of interactive stations and several viewing stations to see the Eclipse in action.
- Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory will host STEM WITH SCIXCHANGE from April 6-8 with the help of the Toronto Metropolitan University.
- Old Fort Erie will be the location for more Q&As with CSA and NASA experts.
- The Skylon Tower’s observation deck is one of the premier views of the falls in Niagara and could make for premier solar eclipse viewing.
Top Sights to See
The river and waterfalls are, of course, the number one thing to see and do in Niagara Falls. Views from the west side of the Niagara River include views of all three main waterfalls which make up the area: Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls on Goat Island. Surrounding these falls are incredible experiences for visitors which get you close to the falls, looking out over the falls, or which have nothing to do with waterfalls!
- Get the best of the whole city with the Niagara Falls Wonder Pass. These get you a tour of the Journey Behind he Falls, a tour of the Power Station and tunnels, a visit to the Butterfly Conservatory, a showing of Niagara’s Fury, a visit to the Floral Showhouse, and unlimited transportation for two days.
- Tour the Niagara Parks historic Power Station. The tour drops visitors 2200 feet below the surface in a glass-walled elevator for a walk through the station’s tunnel. At the end, visitors are met with an up-close view of the falls- so close, that the Power Station provides recyclable ponchos.
- Many of the attractions at the Cliffton Hill are open for the solar eclipse weekend, including the SkyWheel. Time your visit and get a view of the eclipse from the giant Ferris wheel. By early April, Clifton Hill will also have their bowling alley, midway, movieland, mini golf, and XD theatre open as well.

Finding food around Niagara Falls, the attractions, and the hotels, is quite easy. Head to Falls Ave, Clifton Hill, Victoria Ave, or Queen Street to find large groupings of restaurants with enough variety to satisfy everyone in your group.
- The Table Rock Centre and Skylon Tower can each offer an incredible dining and dinner experience for after the solar eclipse through the Table Rock House Restaurant located directly beside the rushing falls, or the Skylon’s Revolving Dining Room located 775ft. above the waterfall.
- The Watermark Restaurant are hosting a special Solar Eclipse Dinner in the Dark on April 7th at $99 per person with reservations required.
- A few of Niagara Falls’ more upscale restaurants offer set three- or four-course dinners that are available for reservation during April 5-8. Check restaurants like Corso, Four Brothers Cucina, or Treadwell Cuisine.
