1. National Indigenous Peoples Day TELUS World of Science

 
Celebrate and honor the culture and worldviews of Indigenous Peoples in Edmonton. TELUS World of Science is offering free admission to Indigenous individuals on June 21. Recognize and celebrate the culture and worldviews of Indigenous Peoples who would traditionally steward the lands of amiskwaciy-wâskahikan, Beaver Hills House (Edmonton) through a variety of community experiences. Details

When: Saturday, June 21, 2025 | 8 AM to 4 PM

Where: TELUS World of Science – Edmonton, 11211 142 Street Northwest, Edmonton

How much: Included with Science Centre Admission

 

2. National Indigenous Peoples Day Royal Alberta Museum

RAM is hosting a weekend of special programming centering Indigenous voices and experiences. Learn the art of finger weaving, sit in on story time, or catch a performance in the lobby. Details

When: June 19 to 22, 2025

Where: Royal Alberta Museum, 9810 103a Avenue NW, Edmonton

How much:

Regular Admission: $10 to $21

All National Indigenous Peoples Day activities are included with general admission. Admission is always free for Indigenous Peoples

 

3. Indigenous Peoples Day at the AGA: Free Admission

At the AGA, we are honored to host a day filled with programming, tours, and interactive experiences that highlight Indigenous voices and stories.
Our theme, “Reclamation”, guides our program schedule to highlight learning and reclaiming of culture, language and traditions through art. Details

When: Saturday, June 21, 2025 | 12:00 AM – 4:00 PM

4. Canadian Native Friendship Centre Indigenous Peoples Festival

This family-friendly event celebrates Indigenous culture and community through engaging activities and entertainment for all ages. Enjoy Indigenous storytelling, tipi teachings, artisan markets, traditional games, food trucks, and live performances.

5. Kingsway Mall National Indigenous Peoples Day

Kingsway is proud to host a day of cultural celebration, in recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day. Performances and activities will be located throughout Kingsway, including Ribbon Skirt Making in Manitobah, located on the upper level near HyperPOP. Stop by and enter to win an item from their new Gabriel Frey collection and Performances by the Dancing Cree.

7. National Indigenous Peoples Day Fort Edmonton

Join Fort Edmonton Park in celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day with a variety of unique programming dedicated to celebrating the culture, heritage, and languages of Indigenous communities, including live performances and interactive activities.

When: Sunday, June 22, 2025 | 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Bent Arrow’s 7th annual Culture Camp will be taking place alongside this event, so there are lots of opportunities for fun, teachings, entertainment, and delicious food. Details

10. Experience Indigenous Tourism around Edmonton

These tourist attractions and businesses in and around Edmonton all include their own take on a guided and educational experiences.

  • Wase Saba Experiences: Sissy Thiessen Kootenayoo offers immersive cultural experiences through Wase Saba. She shares her multiple skills through live performances and workshops. Her performances encompass a variety of styles, including Powwow Dance (Multiple Styles), Storytelling, Spoken Word, Singing, Basic Hand Drum, rattle and wood flute, Acting, and the Two Spirit Drag Performance.
  • Rural Rivers: Explore the Sturgeon River and surrounding waters with a rental from the Metis-owned Rural Rivers Company in west Edmonton. They provide you with the canoe or kayak, and mapped routes to help optimize your time on the water.
  • Talking Rock Tours: There is a huge variety and number of guided walks and hikes offered by Talking Rock Tours. You can explore the River Valley in or beyond the city, Elk Island National Park, or book a weekend getaway in Nordegg or Drumheller.
  • Fort Edmonton Park: The Indigenous Peoples’ Experience at Fort Edmonton’s entrance is one of the newest additions to the Park. It is an immersive experience that showcases art, architecture, and culture.
