Mindbender, billed as the world’s largest indoor triple-loop roller coaster, will be removed from Galaxyland Amusement Park, West Edmonton Mall announced yesterday.
Mindbender, designed by Germany’s Werner Stengel and built by Anton Schwarzkopf, opened to the public in December 1985. Three passengers were killed in an accident when a coaster car crashed in 1986. The ride was subsequently redesigned and reopened in 1987.
“While the Mindbender will be missed, we are excited to announce that we are working on groundbreaking new plans for family thrills that will immerse our guests in an out-of-this-world experience,” states the Galaxyland website.
Galaxyland is currently being renovated to create immersive experiences from some of Hasbro’s many globally recognized brands which include themed spaces and rides like Play-Doh Party Space Pad and Monopoly Railroad Train.
West Edmonton Mall says the decommissioning and removal of the Mindbender is now in progress.
