Toronto’s St. Patrick’s parade returns this Sunday, March 17, for its 35th edition.
This is the largest Irish-themed event held in Toronto. The parade features various community floats and non-profit groups showcasing extravagant floats and marching bands, making it a free fun-filled day for people of ages.
Hockey legend Brian Burke will be the Grand Marshal of the 2024 St. Patrick’s Parade.

If you are planning to line up along the route for the parade, here is what to know:
The St. Patrick’s Parade, organized by the St. Patrick’s Parade Society, will kick off at 12 noon on Sunday and is expected to last one and a half hours. The parade start and staging area are at St.George and Bloor St, near the St. George subway station.
The staging area will open at 8 am.
The parade will take a new route in 2024 due to the construction of the new Ontario line on Queen Street West.
From the start location, the parade will head east on Bloor Street, turn south on Yonge Street and finish at Yonge-Dundas Square.
After the parade ends, Yonge-Dundas Square will host the review stand, which will include local dignitaries and the Grand Marshal.
Those who stay can also enjoy live entertainment.
Members of the Toronto Professional Firefighters Association will be collecting cash and canned goods on the Parade route in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank.
Getting There:
The parade route is easily accessible via public transit and TTC subway stations of St. George, Museum, Bloor, Wellesley, College, Dundas and Queen.
The TTC will be enhancing its subway and streetcar services. Extra trains will be in operation on Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, along with additional streetcars on the 505 Dundas route.
Parking: Visitors can park at the Green P parking lots in the area.
Road Closures:
The following roads along the route will be closed on Sunday, March 17:
9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.:
- St. George Street from Bloor Street West to College Street
- Devonshire Place from Bloor Street West to Hoskin Avenue
- Sussex Avenue from Huron Street to St. George Street
- Harbord Street from Huron Street to St. George Street
- Hoskin Avenue from St. George Street to Queens Park Crescent West
12 p.m. to 2 p.m.:
- Bloor Street West from St. George Street to Yonge Street
- Yonge Street from Bloor Street West to Richmond Street
12:30 to 2 p.m.:
- Yonge Street between Dundas and Shuter Streets.
