Skip, a Canadian delivery platform, has released its annual report showcasing the country’s top food and retail trends for 2024.
The data reflects regional favourites, viral culinary items, and expanding delivery options catering to Canadians’ evolving tastes.

National Favourites
- Butter Chicken remained Canada’s most-ordered dish for the second consecutive year.
- Other popular food items included Garlic Naan, Miso Soup, Fries, and Butter Naan.
Regional Highlights:

- Ontario led with 44% of coffee orders nationally and placed 36% of all poutine orders, showcasing its love for caffeinated beverages and classic Canadian dishes.
- Alberta dominated bubble tea consumption, with 64% of national orders, and accounted for 38% of whey protein purchases. The province also surpassed Winnipeg in Slurpee orders, taking a 38% share.
- British Columbia witnessed extravagant purchases, including a single order of $504 worth of tequila paired with $440 worth of sushi, underlining luxury spending habits.
- Sushi orders were highest in Ontario (34%), followed by Alberta (25%) and BC (20%).
Candy Craze and TikTok Trends:
- Orders for freeze-dried candy surged by 2310%, driven by its viral popularity on TikTok. Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan were the leading provinces for this sweet trend.
- Frozen grapes, another trending snack, saw Albertans leading in orders, making up 39% of all grape deliveries.
Grocery delivery trends showed chips as the most ordered item, followed by Pop, Milk, Bread, and Skip’s $9.99 Mystery Bag, which includes a random assortment of products valued at $25.
Skip also says flower orders have increased by 87% and pet supply orders rose by 178%, as pet owners relied on the platform for essentials.
