A Difference of $1,126: Neighbourhoods in Toronto With the Most and the Least in Car Insurance Rates

RATESDOTCA says drivers from North York and Scarborough paid the highest car insurance prices in 2021.

The insurance comparison agency found that drivers from Toronto Centre, University-Rosedale, and Spadina-Fort York have the least insurance rates and they paid $1,126 less than those from North York and Scarborough.

 

Though the average insurance rates are across the city are below the insurance rates in Vaughan, Ajax, Richmond Hill, Brampton, Mississauga, or Pickering, many Torontonians paid more than the provincial average rate of $1,555.

RATESDOTCA says the average car insurance premium for the year 2021 Toronto declined by 11.3% from 2020 as drivers stayed off the roads due to multiple lockdowns. The average annual premium for Toronto was $1,952 in 2021.

Wards in downtown Toronto and central and southern Etobicoke have the lowest premiums. RATESDOTCA says insurance rates in the downtown core are much lower than in the suburbs due to less car dependency.
