Cool Fall temperatures see scores of Chinook Salmon fighting their way up rivers and streams on their annual spawning run.
Ontario’s first watershed trust, Blue Mountain Watershed Trust is holding a festival right in the middle of the annual salmon migration to celebrate this amazing Fall phenomenon on September 30th in Collingwood/Town of Blue Mountains.
Go on a 20-minute, self-guided nature hike through the woods along Silver Creek, likely the most pristine Chinook Salmon spawning stream in Southern Georgian Bay.
On your walk, you can also explore educational activities and engaging stations alongside the creek. Nottawasaga Conservation Authority and Elephant Thoughts will all be there to help educate about fish migration and spawning and the importance of preserving and protecting the local streams, water systems, and wetlands through inflatable salmon, interactive games and crafts for children.
Gourmet food trucks and The Collingwood Brewery beer stand will have food and drinks for discounted purchase; kids will get a free snack.
