You don’t need to travel to Muskoka to see cranberry harvest as there is a cranberry farm in rural Ottawa that welcomes visitors during the Fall season.
Take some fabulous fall pictures with the scarlet “sea” of fruits as a backdrop at Upper Canada Cranberries.
Apart from the fact that the deep red fruits that are a staple of a traditional Thanksgiving feast are packed with several nutrients and anti-oxidants, the process of harvesting a cranberry bog is a sight to see.
While here, get your supplies of this incredible fruit from Upper Canada Cranberries which is the only commercial cranberry Farm in Eastern Ontario and the only cranberry Farm operating in a capital city!
At Upper Canada Cranberries, almost 16 acres of cranberry bog are filled with water, and then collected with an excavator and sent to a fanning mill to be filtered. After the cranberries have been filtered, they are sorted to make sure that only the best ones are sold to customers. Their cranberry products include cranberry jam, sauce and juice. They also sell fresh, frozen and dried cranberries.
If you want to learn more about the growing and harvesting process, you can visit the farm by booking an appointment through email or phone from late September to early November.
