The wait is over!
Ontario Parks staff plans to open the 1.3km long outdoor skating trail in Arrowhead Provincial Park that winds through snow-draped Muskoka forest for night skating beginning January 16.

The skating trail is now open for daytime use from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Night skating (Fire and Ice Nights) opens on January 16 (weather dependent). Fire and Ice Nights allows you to explore the skating trail at night when the trail is lit with hundreds of tiki torches.

Arrowhead Provincial Park/Ontario Parks
Fire and Ice nights will be open every Friday and Saturday night from 6 pm to 9 pm, weather permitting, and will run from January 16 to February 28, 2026.
Fire and Ice nights are extremely popular and sell out in advance. You can reserve up to five days in advance.

Although reservations are not required for day skating, to ensure guaranteed admission to the park due to capacity restrictions, purchase a vehicle permit in advance.
Other winter activities at Arrowhead Provincial Park include more than 32 km of cross-country ski trails for classic or skate skiing, winter camping, snowshoeing, hiking, and events such as the Muskoka Loppet, organized by Friends of Arrowhead Provincial Park.
Snowshoes, ice skates and cross-country ski rentals are available at the park store.

On Fire and Ice days, i.e., Fridays and Saturdays, January 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31, February 6, 7,13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and night skating from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Check Arrowhead Park’s social media and website (links below), or call 705-789-5105, before travelling to confirm the skating trail status (especially if you are going for the sole purpose of outdoor skating).
How Much: Vehicle permit: $21 per day, per vehicle.
You can purchase a vehicle permit in advance online or via phone. You can reserve a permit for Fire and Ice Nights in advance by selecting the “Day Use + Fire and Ice Evening Skate” option.

- Snowshoes: $18.00 for 3 hours
- Ice skates $18.00 for 3 hours
Cross-country skis:
- $35.00 for an adult full day, $28.00 for an adult half day
- $28.00 for a youth full day, $21.00 for a youth half day
- $112.00 or a family full day, $92.00 for a family half day
