You may know that Ontario not only has fabulous nature trails but also delicious food trails showcasing everything from chocolate to butter tarts.
Oxford County synonymous with high-quality cheese, flaunts its pride in its gourmet creations by showcasing cheese factories, bakeries, and restaurants through its Cheese Trail.
The Cheese Trail is open around the year, but offerings and experiences vary depending on the date and the season.
During the month of May, the cheese makers, restaurants and vendors part of the Cheese Trail offer specialty flavours, special discounts, and experiences like soap felting and more.
Experiences include Mountainoak Cheese (New Hamburg), which offers tours with tastings with no pre-booking required, and special barn tours with a food truck on select Saturdays. Nearby, Bright Cheese and Butter (Bright) is known for its naturally-aged cheese. Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life (Bright) offers goat milk ice cream deals and farm experiences. Golspie Dairy (Woodstock) conducts a cheesemaking workshop, while Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese (Woodstock) features tours and grilled cheese. Red Dragon Dairy (Salford) serves Welsh Rarebit, and New Galma Dairy (Mount Elgin) offers melted Gouda on baguettes.
It is a perfect getaway with Mom or your favourite person (book a spa package and stay at Elm Hurst Inn & Spa) after a day of cheese-themed activities and food tastings.
