The City of Brampton is gearing up to celebrate its first-ever Diwali Mela, a festive extravaganza celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights.
On Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the city will come alive with a vibrant cultural celebration at Sesquicentennial Park, located at 11333 Bramalea Road, Brampton.
The event promises a delightful blend of live music and performances by local and international artists (details to be announced), free family-friendly activities, delectable food vendors, and the grand finale—a 15-minute fireworks display, which happens to be the largest City-run fireworks show ever!
To ensure the smooth running of the events, Countryside Drive from Bramalea Road to Sunny Meadow Boulevard will be closed from 2:00 PM to 11:55 PM on November 12.
Parking at the venue is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Brampton is encouraging alternative methods such as walking, cycling, public transit, or taking advantage of FREE Brampton Transit Shuttles. These shuttles will start running at 4 PM from four different locations: Mount Pleasant GO Station, Sheridan College, Gore Meadows Community Centre, and Save Max Sports Centre.
It is important to remember that as per the recently enacted fireworks by-law, the use of fireworks within Brampton is now restricted, with the exception being City-organized events. This upcoming celebration provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to partake in Diwali festivities and witness the mesmerizing beauty of fireworks, a symbolic tradition often associated with this occasion.
