In a significant move towards expanding its Canadian footprint, Chick-fil-A has announced plans to open three new restaurants in Alberta within the year.

The first of these new ventures is set to break ground at West Edmonton Mall this month, with an anticipated opening by late summer 2024. Following closely, additional locations are slated for construction on Macleod Trail in Calgary and at South Edmonton Common later this spring.
This expansion signifies Chick-fil-A’s venture into Alberta, introducing the brand outside Ontario for the first time since the inaugural Canadian restaurant opened its doors at Yonge & Bloor in Toronto in 2019.
Chick-fil-A’s ambitious expansion in Alberta aims to open up to 20 establishments in the province by 2030.
Per the news release, approximately 80-120 new jobs will be created at each location, increasing the existing workforce of over 1,000 employees across Chick-fil-A’s 13 locations in Ontario.
Chick-fil-A says with each new restaurant opening, the company donates $25,000 USD to Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue organization. This initiative has resulted in over $275,000 USD donated to local Canadian organizations, supporting efforts to reduce hunger and food waste.
Since 2020, over $1 million USD has supported Second Harvest’s food rescue programs, providing 2.8 million meals and expanding the food rescue app to 900 communities. Chick-fil-A’s Shared Table program and True Inspiration Awards have contributed to over 80,000 meals and $475,000 USD to Canadian non-profits, respectively.
Per the news release, the company has also awarded nearly $40,000 USD in scholarships to 37 Canadian Team Members for post-secondary education.
