Events Description

Join us for a riveting talk by Professor Emerita of Art and Craft History, Dr. Jennifer Salahub, on the success of the Sheep Creek Weavers Fibre Arts Guild in their preservation of traditional craft knowledge and techniques through their cultivation of community.

This event is hosted in conjunction with the Alberta Craft Gallery’s Shared Threads fibre exhibition, which commemorates 50 years of the Sheep Creek Weavers’ work in preservation, education, and community. Since its founding in 1976, the guild has been a welcoming haven for weaving enthusiasts and has blossomed into a thriving community of fibre artists who explore a wide array of disciplines. Shared Threads is a collaborative contemporary fibre arts exhibition highlighting the vibrant collective talent within the subsects of craft techniques.
