Events Description

Celebrate Indigenous filmmaking with a special movie event where the rivers meet in Calgary. Join The Confluence for a screening of award-winning Inuk producer and director Zacharias Kunuk’s latest film Uiksaringitara (Wrong Husband).

With international film festival screenings and awards, including winning Best Canadian Film at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, Uiksaringitara (Wrong Husband) is a historical fiction inspired by traditional Inuit stories and legends dealing with classical epic themes of fate, justice, murder, and jealousy.

A Q&A and performance with sister music duo Tiffany Ayalik and Inuksuk Mackay of PIQSIQ will follow the screening. PIQSIQ created and performed katajjaq, the Inuit style throat singing featured Wrong Husband. They will discuss their contributions to the film, including the instruments they made from bone to help bring the music to life.
