Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, a multi-Grammy-winning Jamaican talent and the youngest son of the legendary Bob Marley, has forged a unique musical path. Blending reggae with hip-hop, R&B, and rock, he made history as the first reggae artist to win a Grammy outside the genre. His breakthrough album, “Welcome To Jamrock,” clinched two Grammys for Best Reggae Album, and the Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the title track, which was also declared the best reggae song of the decade by The New York Times.
Collaborations with Nas and Skrillex, notably the platinum-selling “Make It Bun Dem,” showcase Marley’s diverse musical prowess. Rolling Stone hailed “Make It Bun Dem” as a monster mash-up of dubstep and dancehall.” “Stony Hill,” his fourth studio album, secured another Grammy, followed by “The Kalling,” winning Best Reggae Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
