Events Description

Join Edmonton Symphony Orchestra under the stars for four irresistible nights of music ranging from classical gems to Hollywood hits, led by conductor Bob Bernhardt. And Symphony Under the Sky couldn’t possibly conclude with anything other than Tchaikovsky’s majestic 1812 Overture.

BRAHMS & DVOŘÁK

As Antonín Dvořák prepared to say goodbye to America and return to his treasured homeland, he wrote a symphony that pays homage to both – his “New World” Symphony. This iconic work has become one of the most popular symphonic works ever written and is paired with the vast canvas of Brahms’ celebrated Violin Concerto.

CELTIC SPECTACULAR FEATURING EILEEN IVERS

Eileen Ivers’ passionate energy and virtuoso fiddling that will ignite the festival’s opening concert. Through music, song and dance, Eileen pays homage to the great Celtic traditions with her unique creative edge and contemporary style.

HOLLYWOOD HITS

This evening includes exciting music from movies for all ages, including The Avengers, Beauty and the Beast, Mamma Mia!, and Ghostbusters.

TOE-TAPPERS

Join us for an afternoon of toe-tapping, hand-clapping joy, including big band hits (“Satin Doll”, “Opus 1”, “Jersey Bounce”), familiar tunes from Hollywood and Broadway (Saturday Night Fever, “Begin the Beguine”), a touch of Latin (“Tico-Tico”), and featuring some of Edmonton’s finest dancers! This exciting concert premieres 2019 Young Composer Project winner Caelan Jansen’s original piece, Le Dragon, and closes with long-standing tradition, Tchaikovsky’s epic 1812 Overture.
