Events Description
Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet With the NAC Orchestra.
A feast for the senses!
This sumptuous retelling of the Brothers Grimm fairytale is a feast for the senses. Choreographer Loughlan Prior—also an established dance filmmaker—has conjured a surreal world inspired by the silent film era and vaudeville music halls. He has meticulously designed the adventure through the eyes of a child.
Join the young protagonists as they encounter the mystical Sandman and his sparkling Dew Fairies, the Ice Cream Witch, a sinister chorus line of pink-iced gingerbread men and many other memorable characters.
This decidedly brighter interpretation of the original tale pairs perfectly with composer Claire Cowan’s captivating score that recalls the era of Hollywood musicals. Southam Hall stage will be illuminated with the exquisite dancers of the RWB who are thrown numerous comic and lively opportunities to showcase their artistry.
A scrumptious treat for the entire family!
