The MOTEWOLONUWOK ᒣᑏᐧᐁᓓᓄᐧᐁᒃ Tour
Jeremy Dutcher
with Sister Ray

Jeremy Dutcher is a Two-Spirit song carrier, composer, activist, and ethnomusicologist from Tobique First Nation in Eastern Canada. He gained international acclaim for his album Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa, which earned him the 2018 Polaris Music Prize and Indigenous Music Album of the Year at the 2019 JUNO Awards. His musical style blends the songs of his community with neoclassical, jazz, and pop influences, and has led him to collaborate with such iconic artists as Buffy Sainte-Marie and Yo-Yo Ma. Dutcher’s work has taken him to the world’s great concert halls, NPR’s Tiny Desk, and the judges’ table of Canada’s Drag Race.

Sister Ray, the project Ella Coyes, was conceived out of necessity; a self-designed vehicle built to examine trauma with unflinching honesty. Sister Ray’s music is steeped in a wide range of cultural influences. With gospel bluegrass and 90’s country playing in the background of their youth, it was the traditional Métis music played at home that brought them closer to their heritage and taught them a form of storytelling rooted in collective value.

Communion, their debut album, is a raw portrait of momentous, ordinary moments; experiences that define your past, and instruct your future. Quickly met with critical acclaim, the album was longlisted for the 2022 Polaris Prize.

Teeth, their new EP, came from a need for space and the repercussions conditional to this desire. Their yearning tone and staggering honesty trickles throughout and the erosion leads to an opening—vacant, unfamiliar, and with room to breathe.
