Events Description
Join us in the museum to celebrate the partial solar eclipse. Receive free eclipse viewing glasses (while supplies last) with your museum admission and learn all about this celestial event!
Throughout the day we will be offering programming on eclipses and how to view them safely including a make-your-own pinhole viewer. During the eclipse we will be facilitating safe viewing for participants. We will invite visitors to bring their glasses acquired at the admission desk and their pinhole creations out on the grounds to safely view the eclipse. We will have staff on the grounds offering additional viewing through solar filtered binoculars and as well as magnified solar projectors. In case of inclement weather, we’ll be streaming the eclipse live in our theatre.
Sun-Earth-Moon craft (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
Colour and assemble a functional representation of the Earth/Moon/Sun to better understand how these celestial bodies move in relation to each other.
Make Your Own Pinhole Viewer (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
Create your own pinhole viewer to view the eclipse indirectly, as it’s projected through the pinhole and onto a piece of cardstock. A great activity for all ages and stages!
