Events Description
The Muslim International Film Festival (MIFF) returns to Toronto from October 29 to November 1, 2026, bringing four days of film, creativity, and community to the city!
MIFF celebrates Muslim filmmakers, artists, and storytellers from around the world, showcasing diverse perspectives through feature films, documentaries, short films, filmmaker Q&As, performances, panels, and workshops.
This year’s festival features an exciting mix of Canadian and international cinema, including:
🎬 Opening Night: Conversation With The Sea — Friday, October 30 at The Creative School Chrysalis Theatre. Directed by Palestinian filmmaker Muayad Alayan and co-presented with the Toronto Palestine Film Festival, the film follows a Palestinian father forced to prove his son’s death decades after losing him.
🎬 Canadian Shorts Showcase — Sunday, November 1 at Innis Town Hall. Seven short films by Canadian Muslim filmmakers, followed by a filmmaker Q&A.
🎬 Closing Night: Lifeline — Sunday, November 1 at Innis Town Hall. Directed by Somali-Canadian filmmaker Ilhan Abdullahi, the film follows a Somali youth worker drawn into the case of a wrongly convicted basketball prodigy.
From powerful documentaries to emerging Canadian talent, MIFF 2026 invites Toronto audiences to discover new voices, experience compelling stories, and celebrate the richness of Muslim creativity.
