Christmas in Ireland is celebrated between Christmas Eve and Nollaig Na mBan or Women’s Christmas. On December 26, families in Ireland observe St. Stephen’s Day or Wren Day. Music, song, and dance are a vital part of joyous community celebrations across Ireland during the holiday season. An Emerald Isle Christmas offers a taste of these extraordinary and centuries old events. In addition to the amazing musicians of Danú, colorful Irish step-dancers will add to the festivities.
Hailing from historic Ireland’s County Waterford, Danú is one of today’s leading traditional Irish ensembles. Known for their high-energy, standing-room-only concerts, Danú delivers a vibrant mix of ancient Irish music and fresh original repertoire. For over two decades, their virtuoso musicians have toured globally, performing on flute., tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion, bouzouki, and vocals in both Irish and English. Winners of multiple BBC and Irish Music Magazine awards, Danú has graced stages from the Hollywood Bowl to Symphony Space. Featuring the renowned vocalist Nell Ní Chróinín, Danú continues to bring the rich traditions of Ireland to the global stage.
