Come and join us at the Kitsilano Showboat to celebrate Canada’s Birthday. There will be entertainment, cake, goodies, fun & games for the children.

We will start the day with a yoga class, a puppet show, children’s story telling, Lots of music, a ukulele singalong and a show-stopper band. Our local MP and federal Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard Joyce Murray will be on hand, and
to end the festivities we feature the South Van Big Band.

CANADA DAY OPENING CEREMONIES

Happy Birthday Canada 3:00 p.m.
Pacific Arts Market craft activities throughout the afternoon at the top of the bleachers
Yoga Buttons 3:10 p.m.
A relaxing, fun way for the younger members of our Showboat audience to learn and enjoy the health benefits of yoga.
Vancouver Puppet Theater 3:45 p.m.
A Showboat staple from previous years, Vik is back with his amazing puppet show for all ages.
Story Time with Barry 4:00 p.m.
Our president Barry Leinbach is back with original stories that the children help to develop, allowing their imaginations to create the story line and the characters. Barry will put it all together in a fun, entertaining activity for the whole family.
Children’s Entertainer – Clementine 4:15 p.m.
New to Showboat, Clementine will be sure to captivate your child and have them grooving to her songs. Each song tells a story and has an action, keeping children focused, physical and having fun throughout the show.
You Can Uke Too – Ukulele 5:00 p.m.
A very popular group from last year, they will be encouraging audience members young and young at heart to bring their ukuleles for an interactive performance. Whether you’re on the stage or in the bleachers you’re bound to have fun with the coolest instrument on the planet!
Freddy Fudpucker Marching Band 5:30 p.m.
This is a marching band with a difference! Highly colourful, very mobile, and great entertainment for all ages. Follow them as they march through the Beach area celebrating Canada Day
5 On a String 5:45 p.m.
5 on a String has been picking and singing bluegrass music all around the Pacific Northwest for over twenty-five years. We have a family friendly show with plenty of hot picking and fiddle tunes to
entertain just about any audience. Seniors love the old-time theme and harmony singing, and the kids are attracted to the staccato sounds of the banjo and fiddle.
Joyce Murray MP 7:00 p.m.
Our special guest for tonight is our local MP Joyce Murray, who represents the riding of Vancouver Quadra and is Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard.
South Van Big Band 7:10 p.m.
The South Van Big Band has a broad spectrum of musical taste ranging across blues, Latin jazz, funk, swing, bebop and contemporary styles. They’ve performed several times at Kitsilano Showboat, and look forward to coming back in style for this special day! Bring your dancing shoes and be ready to relive the great tunes of the swing and contemporary eras.
