Events Description

Lunar New Year is a time of celebration, reflection, and renewal, and UBC Botanical Garden’s goal for this year’s Lunar New Year market is to create an experience that encourages communities to connect more deeply with the beauty and cultural significance of the Asian Garden. Through engaging educational activities and interactive experiences, it will be an opportunity to appreciate the Garden’s commitment to celebrate culture, community and education. With this year’s Lunar New Year Market celebration, the Garden aims to provide a welcoming space for everyone to learn and experience the beautiful traditions of Lunar New Year. Now in its third year, the celebration has grown year after year since its inception in 2023, and we are thrilled to make this Year of the Snake even bigger and better!

Our market will feature over 40 local makers and food trucks. UBC Botanical Garden will also offer fresh auspicious flowers, dried floral arrangements, and potted plants for sale. Enjoy a photo booth by Dang Good Booths, an exciting lion dance and kung fu performance by the UBC Kung Fu Club, and participate in workshops like calligraphy, sweet dumpling dessert-making and watercolour painting. Tickets include admission to the garden, where you can learn about both cultural and horticultural wonders.
