Events Description

The Manitoba Electronic Music Exhibition (MEME) is the only annual event in Western Canada that highlights local and international electronic musicians at such a high profile and free public venue (The Cube). MEME is a festival that presents refined cutting edge electronic music performed using the latest in new creative technologies. MEME is a combination of 21st century artistic exploration and a collective celebration of human creativity expressed through a symbiotic relationship with technology. MEME is an experience that delivers a wide array of eclectic sonic soundscapes that are intellectually stimulating and also beckoning to the dancefloor. Some of the musical styles you can expect to hear at MEME include a broad spectrum of house, techno, deep dub, psychedelic, world, nu-jazz, ambient and experimental sounds.

In addition to the free concert series at The Cube in Old Market Square MEME features highly anticipated and world-class “After Cube” events. These late night electronic music and multi-media extravaganzas are held at unique and beautiful venues including The Winnipeg Art Gallery & The Pantages Playhouse. Each event features local, national and international guest artists performing on top quality soundsystems. Parallel to the audio stimulation is a focus on visuals including various multi-media spectacles. All MEME concerts feature VJ’s alongside the musical acts bringing a synergy of senses to the MEME experience.

Another key component of MEME is education and participation. MEME workshops are a unique full-day learning experience. Once a year we have the amazing opportunity to bring together a vibrant community of aspiring producers and professionals. The workshops take place at Manitoba Music, located only blocks away from the festival main stage and venues. Training is delivered by local industry professionals and an array of international producers who will be performing at the festival throughout the weekend.

We invite you to come and explore new music, amazing visuals, interactive multi-media, educational workshops and the dancefloor during MEME.

MEME X celebrates the 10 year anniversary of this unique prairie electronic music festival showcasing Canadian & international talent in a beautiful urban setting. As we put the finishing touches on our lineup we wanted to share a few details about this year’s festival:

Festival events:

August 15th – MEME Opening Night @ Met Rooftop
August 16th – Legends Showcase @ The Pyramid
August 17th – Cube After Party @ The Garrick Centre ft. Stacey Pullen

The Cube: back for one day only!

The question on everyone’s mind is of course about The Cube. We have decided to bring back the free concert at The Cube for one very special day this year. The Cube will be back as a full power MEME experience on Saturday August 17th. Make sure to check out the entire festival and support all of our events so we can work to build this festival into it’s 2nd decade!
