Events Description

Canada’s Largest Outdoor Curling Bonspiel

Our bonspiel is the largest outdoor curling bonspiel in Canada and the second largest bonspiel in Manitoba. Curling outdoors is one of the most exciting events you can do in the winter and anyone can play in our event with our 2 divisions. Registration is open until Friday January 31, 2020. If you register by December 29 you may qualify for the early bird prize. You can start creating your team right away, just be sure to finish up before the deadline.

Imagine the rushing river under your feet, the beautiful sun or stars shining as you play the amazing sport of curling. Our mission is to introduce the sport of curling to everyone and raise funds for Heart and Stroke. Remembering the family and friends we have lost to heart disease. Curling with heart and the power of play we invite you, your family, friends and co-workers to join your team today. With your support we take curling back to its roots.

There is a draw board down at ice level that shows your team, the sheet your on and the team your playing. Games are 6 ends or 60 minutes. Tied games go to skip stones in regular games. Ties in playoffs go to one extra end. Shake hands and have fun curling. We follow the free guard zone rule. No spiked shoes on the curling playing surface as they will tear up the ice. Stick curling is welcomed and encouraged, but you must release the rock before the hog line. The third game is the most important game; you win your on to Sunday, you lose your out. Snowplowing may be actual snowplowing, the rule is you push the snow out of the way with your last action and don’t intentionally leave a pile behind to help stop your rock. We appreciate people are learning the great sport of curling and or may have extra players. Skips discuss any items with each other prior to throwing your first rock so everyone understand how things will go. Sportsmanship and respect are important for everyone to have fun. Family and friends are around so please be considerate of language. Let’s all have fun out there.
