Starting this summer, getting to Stratford by train will be a lot simpler.
Ontario says GO Transit service will officially extend to the city on July 6, 2026, adding a daily round trip on the Kitchener line between Stratford and Toronto.
For weekday commuters, the schedule is designed with routine in mind. A morning train will leave Stratford for Union Station, with a return trip in the afternoon, stopping along the way in Kitchener, Guelph, Acton, Georgetown and Brampton. Weekend service flips that flow, making it easier for visitors to head into Stratford in the morning and return to Toronto later in the day.
Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria framed the move as part of a broader push to expand affordable transit options across the province, while Tourism Minister Stan Cho pointed to Stratford’s reputation as a cultural hub.
The Stratford Festival alone drew more than 430,000 attendees in 2024, making it a major driver for the local economy.
