The free, one-day event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is part of the broader Doors Open Ontario program, which encourages public access to sites that are often closed or rarely accessible. Organized collaboratively by the three communities, the event highlights the region’s shared heritage, architecture, and local stories.
Participating locations include 18 sites spanning museums, churches, historic homes, cultural centres, and operational facilities. Visitors can expect a mix of guided tours, interpretive displays, and behind-the-scenes access, offering insight into both the region’s past and present. Many of the sites reflect the diverse histories of Indigenous and settler communities along the Grand River, as well as the evolution of industry, agriculture, and civic life in the area.
Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead
The Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead in St. George will be open to visitors, highlighting the early life of Adelaide Hunter Hoodless and her contributions to social organizations. Built in 1830 in the Ontario Gothic style, the home now operates as a museum under the Federation of Women’s Institutes. The site reflects both domestic life and broader social reform movements of the late 19th century.

Bell Homestead National Historic Site
At the Bell Homestead National Historic Site in Brantford, visitors can explore the residence where Alexander Graham Bell developed the telephone in 1874.
