Thanks to its remote location, Gooseberry Lake Provincial Park is a quiet place for anyone to relax and unwind.

The small prairie lake and remote park are near the Saskatchewan border and a 2.5-hour drive from larger towns and cities. Thanks to this, the small Provincial Park and lake make for quiet camping and lazy family fun.
This is one of Alberta’s original Provincial Parks and an Important Bird Area. During the spring and fall migration, visitors can spot great blue herons or pelicans. Kids and families can enjoy spotting the birds from the easy trails and the trout pond.
Endless Stargazing
A clear night any time of year will give visitors to Gooseberry Lake an incredible nighttime show. The lake is far from any large urban centre, with both Drumheller and Red Deer 2.5-hours from the park.
Golf
The park is unique to most others in Alberta thanks to its golf course – Consort Golf Club, and the golf course’s restaurant. Not many provincial parks in Alberta have this amenity!
Camping
The camping here can be quite cozy. The 40 campsites at Gooseberry Lake, plus the three group use areas, provide several amenities to guests. Some of the campsites offer power and water hookups, and all campers have access to showers. The power and water campsites are located in a scenic lakeside spot, while the rest are a short walk from the shores.
Family Fun
The lake may not be open to swimmers, but families can cool off at the lakeside splash park. This is also where kids can find the large playground. A forested trail follows the lake shore and loops back to the campground. A second trail will lead guests to a stocked trout pond where fishing is permitted. Plus, the park operates its own 9-hole golf course, perfect for all skill levels. Any activity at the park can also be spent birdwatching. Gooseberry Lake is an important bird area in Alberta.
