1. Silver Skate Festival
Rooted in Dutch winter traditions, the festival combines sport (especially skating), arts and culture, and recreation. Celebrating its 27th anniversary in 2017, the Silver Skate Festival is the longest running winter festival in Edmonton. Over the years, it has grown in leaps and bounds, from a small skating event to a large-scale, winter extravaganza. Details

By Edmonton OPERA: Warm up this winter with Rossini’s feel-good Cinderella (La Cenerentola), a bel canto opera that boasts whimsical composition and dramatically rich singing. Rossini takes the familiar fairytale of Cinderella and adds his own spin to it, replacing the wicked stepmother with a quirky old stepfather, and turning the story into a delightful comedy of mistaken identities. 4. Magic and Illusion
Clockwork MysteriesExternal takes its audience on a bizarre and fascinating journey through Time. Within seconds of taking the stage, Ted and Marion Outerbridge fuse their revolutionary illusions with split-second artistry – holding their audience spellbound. With the help of an elaborate Victorian time machine, the performers invite the audience into a mysterious clock tower equipped with a variety of timekeeping devices.
