1. Festival of Fools

This 7 day free family festival features jugglers, clowns, acrobats, swinging trapeze and circus workshops and tons of hilarious shows! In addition to funding support from The Forks and the Winnipeg Arts Council, the WICF solicits donations at the event to both present the best in family entertainment and to keep the festival affordable for everyone! 2. The Tomodachi Icebreaker Festival

There will be video games, board games, food, prizes, a special Japanese comedy screening, anime, a green screen photobooth, contests and vendors. Details

3. The Winnipeg Model Railroad Club Annual Open House

The Winnipeg Model Railroad Club will he holding its annual spring train show and open house. This is the second biggest train show to be held this year in the entire province, and it’s going to be jam packed with plenty of features and exhibits! The No.1 Northern Division’s Free-Mo group, the Kildonan Short Lines, the Assiniboine Valley Railway and WinNtrak all will be displaying. There will also be the popular Lionel Giraffe Car portable layout, which is always a hit with the younger set.

Four great composers highlight individual sections of the WSO in an evening of serenades at Westminster United Church. Mozart’s classical melody meets Dvorˇák’s Czech folk tunes. Hindemith’s dramatic Concert Music features strings and brass while Tchaikovsky closes in Romantic splendor. Details

3. Young Prodigies Concert

For all the famous, veteran soloists the MCO presents, we feature nearly as many young prodigies on the cusp of fame. Guest conductor Gemma New and double bassist Sam Casseday are surely among them. With jaw-dropping artistry, 23-year-old Casseday will perform a double bass arrangement of Mozart’s 5th violin concerto, otherwise known as ‘The Turkish.’ You know the tune. You’ve heard it on violin and as a cellphone ringtone—but have you ever heard it on a big, bad double bass? Details

4. How to Disappear Completely

Award-winning lighting designer and storyteller Itai Erdal draws on a life lived between his birthplace, Jerusalem, and home in Vancouver. Itai returned to Israel in 2000, after his mother was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. A film student at the time, Itai packed up his gear, and put full focus on his mom.
