Manitoba Provincial Parks will be free to visit for all during the entire month of February.
Minister of Environment and Climate Change Minister Mike Moyes announced today.
“Manitoba’s provincial parks offer an incredible variety of trails and activities for Manitobans of all ages,” said Moyes.
“I am pleased to announce we are waiving the entry fee to all provincial parks for the month of February to make it more affordable for Manitoba families to get outdoors and enjoy all our beautiful provincial parks have to offer.”
Though provincial park admission is free, Snopasses will be needed for snowmobilers using groomed trails in parks.
Across the province, numerous parks feature well-maintained trails suitable for cross-country skiing, fat biking, snowshoeing, and hiking. In addition, select parks like Paint Lake, Spruce Woods, and Turtle Mountain, enhance the winter experience with facilities for outdoor skating, hockey, and tobogganing. For those keen on ice fishing, Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park provides complimentary shelters on the shores of Lake Winnipeg.
Thrill-seekers can indulge in downhill skiing and snowboarding at two notable locations: the Asessippi Ski Resort located in Asessippi Provincial Park and Falcon Ridge Ski Slopes in Whiteshell Provincial Park.
Manitoba Winter Trails Day will be celebrated for the first time on Saturday, Feb. 8, coinciding with free park entry. This annual event, held on the second Saturday of February, highlights the province’s incredible winter trails and activities, recognizes the dedicated partners who maintain them, and encourages Manitobans to embrace the season by enjoying outdoor adventures with family and friends, said Moyes.
On Feb. 8, park interpreters will lead guided trail experiences in the following provincial parks:
- Birds Hill – Join a snowshoe trek along the Nimowin Trail to search for animal tracks, discover signs of wildlife, and learn how creatures adapt to winter.
- Spruce Woods – Take a guided hike on the Epinette Trail to explore the park’s unique landscape and its fascinating connection to the spruce forest.
Take advantage of the many winter activities available in provincial parks at no cost!
WHAT IS FREE AND NOT FREE DURING FEBRUARY – 2025
- Vehicle permits are not required in any provincial park this month
- SnoPasses are still required for snowmobiles using groomed trails in the parks and entrance fees still apply in national parks.
