The Holiday Train will return to the rails this season for its 26th cross-continent tour this November.
In November, two decorated trains will make the festive journey, travelling through the U.S. and Canada to bring holiday cheer to many communities along the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway’s network.
Each event is free, with CPKC encouraging attendees to open their cupboards and wallets to help address hunger needs in their communities. Local food banks will be accepting donations at each stop to ensure those less fortunate have enough healthy food this holiday season.
This year, the Holiday Train will host 167 live music shows in 7 provinces and 13 states, visiting Saint John in New Brunswick for the first time.
The Canadian Train leaves for Metro Vancouver and will depart Saint John on November 21, visiting communities in Maine and eastern townships of Quebec. The tour wraps up on December 20th at Port Moody, British Columbia.
The U.S. Holiday Train will depart Montreal on November 21st, visiting communities in southern Ontario and down through Chicago to Kansas City. The train will finish its journey back to Canada with the final show in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, on December 18.
What to Expect
A typical Holiday Train event involves the train arriving, stopping in front of the crowd, and lowering its stage door for a band performance. There’s a brief presentation with local food bank officials, followed by the band playing holiday and original songs. After the final song, the train moves on to the next stop.
The talented lineup includes artists such as James Barker Band, Clerel, Tyler Shaw, Shawnee Kish, Magic!, Sofia Camara, American Authors, KT Tunstall, Tiera Kennedy, Seaforth, Alana Springsteen, and The Lone Bellow.
The Holiday Trains do not offer public rides. The trains are beautifully adorned with LED lights and holiday decorations, which may be turned off in non-CPKC areas. Each train is approximately 1,000 feet long.
In addition to the Holiday Train, the festive six-car Holiday Express train will make 13 public stops in Louisiana, Missouri, and Texas, featuring intricate displays and a visit from Santa Claus.
The CP Holiday Train program launched in 1999 and has since raised more than $24.3 million and over 5.3 million pounds of food for community food banks across North America.
CPKC is the first and only single-line transnational railway linking Canada, the United States and México.

One NB stop in 2024!? Was hoping for a Moncton stop!
Proud supporter of this charity event for the last 25 years. Great job CP/CPKC on creating a new holiday tradition of giving for millions of Canadians. Keep up the outstanding work
It is sad that the train is not coming to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia 2023 , hopefully next year
The train runs only on rails owned by Canadian Pacific Kansas City rail network.
I would love to go if this ever came to Nova Scotia!
Please bring the train to New Brunswick. It is sad that eastern Canada is left out.
Why does this train not go through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Are they not provinces on mainland Canada? New Brunswick borders on Maine.
