Canadian Heritage Minister, Pablo Rodriguez, has announced the official line-up for Canada Day 2023.
Canada’s Capital Region will host the main events at LeBreton Flats Park and other locations. Residents and visitors from across the country can join in via CBC and Radio-Canada broadcasts from 8 p.m. local time, 9 p.m. Atlantic time, and 9:30 p.m. Newfoundland time.
For the second year running, LeBreton Flats Park will host Canada Day festivities. The daytime ceremony will commence at noon (ET), and the evening show will start at 8 p.m. (ET). The day’s proceedings will conclude with the Tim Hortons Canada Day fireworks, set to begin at 10 p.m. (ET), illuminating the Ottawa–Gatineau sky. The best views can be had from LeBreton Flats Park and nearby traffic-free streets.
Additionally, downtown Ottawa and Gatineau will offer a variety of free public activities, and Parliament Hill will be open for visits.
The daytime ceremony, hosted by Rebecca Makonnen, will emphasize significant themes, anniversaries, and Canada’s diversity. It will open with an Indigenous reflection, a citizenship ceremony, and performances by renowned Canadian artists, including Pierre Kwenders, Delhi 2 Dublin, Tyler Shaw, among others. The daytime event will be available for viewing on CBC and Radio-Canada platforms starting at 11:45 a.m. (ET).
The evening show, hosted by Isabelle Racicot, is a two-hour concert and is typically the most popular event on July 1. It will take viewers on a musical journey from Ottawa to Charlottetown, Calgary, and Vancouver. Audiences can expect performances from Canadian artists such as Jann Arden, Roxane Bruneau, Aysanabee, France D’Amour, Preston Pablo, and many more. The show will also include performances from other locations in Canada by artists like Tegan and Sara, Dear Rouge, and 6 Hearts. Until June 6, Canadians are invited to vote for one English and one French song to be performed by Canadian artists during the evening show.
Whether you head to Ottawa or celebrate Canada’s birthday in your local community, let us come together to celebrate our shared values and create lasting memories on this joyous occasion.
Happy Canada Day!
