You hear it all the time – Saskatchewan is so flat and filled with farmland that there is nothing worth stopping for. But, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The fact is, for as flat as this province is, there is so much to see. There are lots of rest stops along the highway, but some are worth the stop. Since there are so many spots worth stopping at, we made a list of the things you should check out as you travel the Trans-Canada Highway in Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan Naturally
Right along the Saskatchewan and Manitoba border is a pullout for a short rest and the place the perfect place to snap that photo as soon as you enter Saskatchewan from the far east side of the province.

Moosomin
Instead of continuing down the road, take one of the exit ramps into the town of Moosomin. It is known for the town paper, the Spectator and has many spots worth visiting, including the Moosomin Regional Museum.

Fieldstone Campground & RV
North on Highway 8 is the Fieldstone Campground & RV. While driving through the area, sometimes you need a place to relax for the night. This campground will provide you with all the amenities you need before taking off to the highway.

Red Jacket Monument
It is easy to miss, but you’ll want to watch for the Red Jacket Monument of the old settlement. It is right across the highway from the Bri-Ma-Del Bible Camp.
Wapella
Whether you need gas, food or to just stretch your legs, make a quick stop in Wapella. This little town will have everything you need to stock up before venturing down the highway.
Whitewood
Although small, Whitewood has many attractions worth stopping for:

Grenfell
If you need to stretch your feet and relax for a bit, make a stop in Grenfell. You can head over to the regional park, hit the golf course or relax at the RV park.
Summerberry
Shortly after Grenfell, you will pass by the hamlet of Summerberry. There is a neat, old house to see, as well as the Summerberry Cemetery. Until 1972, it was considered a village.
Wolseley
Take a bit of time to drive around Wolseley, the town built around a lake. This quaint small town is worth the time, including checking out the Wolseley Swinging Bridge in the northern part of town.
Twilite Drive-In Theatre
On the outskirts of Wolseley is the Twilite Drive-In Theatre. Many travel from around the area to enjoy a night out at the drive-in.

Indian Head
You might only think of stopping at Indian Head for gas, but there is something else to take a look at. Wander into town to visit the Rural Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

Qu’Appelle Valley
We recommend you take the detour from Indian Head to explore the beautiful valley unique to the flat province. You’ll see the signs off the highway for the Qu’Appelle Valley Scenic Tour. Keep following those signs for a breathtaking view of the province.

Regina
Although there is now a bypass, you will want to make the trip into the city of Regina, the capital province of Saskatchewan. This city has lots to offer visitors:
- Wascana Park
- Saskatchewan Science Centre
- RCMP Heritage Centre
- Government House
- Royal Saskatchewan Museum
- MacKenzie Art Gallery

Pense Rest Stop
In between Regina and Moose Jaw is the Pense Rest Stop. There are no facilities, but you can park and take a nap if needed.
Moose Jaw
Take some time to tour around the historical town of Moose Jaw. Only about 45 minutes west of Regina on the highway, many city residents will drive out to Moose Jaw for the day to see many attractions:
- Mac the Moose
- Tunnels of Moose Jaw
- Murals of Moose Jaw
- Temple Gardens Hotel and Spa

Caronport
On the edge of the highway is the small town of Caronport. This town is known for the Briercrest College and Seminary. They also have beautiful parks to relax and rejuvenate.
Besant Campground
South of the highway is the Besant Campground. The grounds are well taken care of with a large pond near the picnic area.
Chaplin Tourism Saskatchewan
If you have dogs on your trip, this stop is for you. The Chaplin Tourism Saskatchewan is a great place to stretch your legs and let your dogs out for a run. You can even head north into town, stay a while or even taste some local food.
Morse
Head into the town of Morse to visit the Morse Museum and Cultural Centre. Get a feel of life on the prairies as a pioneer. Fill up, grab some snacks and head back on the highway.
Swift Current
Make a stop in the city of Swift Current, one of the last few cities before the Alberta border. Tour around to see what this bustling city has to offer:
- Riverside Park
- Swift Current Museum
- Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame
- Swift Current Aquatic Centre
Webb National Wildlife Area
Just south of the highway is the Webb National Wildlife Area. This was developed to protect and preserve wildlife and nature in the surrounding area near Goose Lake.
Gull Lake
If you are in need of a pit-stop and refuel, take a quick detour into the small town of Gull Lake. There is also the Gull Lake Campground if you need a place to rest your head.
Saskatchewan Visitor Reception Centre
Right near the junction of Highway 21 is the Saskatchewan Visitor Reception Centre. Stop here for a rest, to stretch your feet and snap some pictures. Stop by the visitor centre to get some information about the area as well.
Eagle Valley Park Campground
This highly reviewed campground is right off of the highway. Whether you stay the night or for the afternoon, it is a place to relax and stretch your legs. You may even want to take a dip in the pool.

Cummings Rest Area
Take a picture with the Saskatchewan Naturally sign before you enter into Alberta. Take a rest, have a picnic, use the washrooms then head out towards Alberta.
