Assiniboine Park

 

As one of Winnipeg’s largest parks, there are plenty of great places to go in Assiniboine Park to enjoy a picnic. Find a spot in one of the wide-open fields or hunker down in one of the wooded areas to enjoy your meal. You’ll love relaxing and enjoying some tasty food in this gorgeous park.

Henteleff Park

This gem located on the shores of the Red River is a great place to go for an afternoon picnic. You’ll love hearing the sound of the river and the birds chirping in the trees surrounding you. Combine great food with beautiful views when you visit this park for your next picnic.

Westview Park

Also known affectionately by Winnipeggers as “Garbage hill,” Westview Park is a favourite tobogganing location in the winter and a great picnic location in the summer. Climb to the top of the hill to get in a little exercise before your meal and enjoy the view of the surrounding area. You’ll love spending time in this quaint park.

FortWhyte Alive

This park is a great place to go if you’re interested in enjoying a relaxing picnic and learning about the native wildlife of the area. After you enjoy a delicious homemade meal, take a walk along the various trails to see all the nature the area has to offer. Remember to pay a visit to the interpretive centre to learn even more.

Located off Winnipeg’s busy Portage Avenue, Omand Park offers a quiet refuge where you can take a stroll, play a game of baseball with friends at one of the park’s baseball diamonds, and enjoy the beautiful river while you eat.

Vimy Ridge Park

Named after the famous Battle of Vimy Ridge, Vimy Ridge Park is a great place to spend the afternoon picnicking with family or friends. You’ll love all the facilities the park includes, like a wading pool and spray pad for particularly hot days. Grab your picnic and, once your done eating, take a walk through the beautiful flower gardens.

Bruce Park

The 4.4 hectares of this park offer a great place to sit and enjoy a picnic on a warm summer day. Bring your family, friends, or your significant other and appreciate the beauty of Bruce Park. When you’re done eating, take a walk and explore the area, which includes a playground for kids.

St. Vital Park

 
No matter what time of year you go, St. Vital Park offers a great location for a walk or place to relax. In the summertime, it’s perfect for a picnic. Set up near the duck pond for your meal, and afterwards go for a stroll along its many walking paths.

Kildonan Park

Munson Park

Located off of Winnipeg’s beautiful Wellington Crescent, Munson Park is a gorgeous riverside park that makes for a great picnic location. Choose from open sunny areas or shadier tree areas to enjoy your meal. Pack your camera and keep an eye out for any critters that might call the river home.

Andrew Currie Park

This park may be small, but there’s plenty to delight! Located in a quiet Winnipeg neighbourhood, this park offers a great opportunity to enjoy a picnic on a sunny day. Wellington Crescent is also a great place to stroll down after you’re done eating!

Kings Park

 
There’s lots to do and see when you visit this park. Enjoy your picnic, and then check out all the amenities this park offers. Head to the labyrinth or rock garden, and let Fido have a romp around in the off-leash dog area.
