The organizers of Calgary Pride Week have announced that 2020 edition of the festival usually held during the labour day weekend will be held online. The decision comes as the City of Calgary has cancelled all events through August 31.
The family-friendly Pride Parade usually sees upwards of 75,000 spectators as over 200 entries from community groups, corporations, politicians, churches and public services roll through the heart of downtown and celebrates the tremendous diversity of Calgary’s community.
2020 Pride Week is scheduled to take place from August 28 – September 6 and it will now include celebrations hosted through social media platforms.
The curated content by Calgary Pride will be streamed through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Twitch and YouTube.
Calgary Pride is still accepting applications for Calgary Pride 2020 which will be broadcasting a mixture of live and pre-recorded content throughout all of Pride week. The content will include performances from Canada’s best and brightest LGBTQ2S+ artists, diversity workshops, community newscasts, and interviews — all free to the public.
