Events Description
The Sweetwater Harvest Festival is the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre’s biggest special event of the year.
Join the Friends of Wye Marsh and Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons for an awesome maple syrup experience this spring.
At the Sweetwater Harvest at Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons, immerse yourself in a blend of culture and history. Connect with local artisans at the Arts & Crafts Market, explore through scavenger hunts, and savor cornbread. Experience historical life by trying on costumes, playing Indigenous games, and crafting clay pots and corn husk dolls. Learn agricultural practices by planting the three sisters, delve into historic tea sampling, listen to Indigenous stories, and discover 17th-century fire-starting techniques of the French and Wendat.
At Wye Marsh, discover the origins of Sweetwater and embrace our natural heritage. Wander the Sugar Bush, witness sap transformation in the Sugar Shack, and enjoy bannock by an open fire. Engage in traditional games, barefoot activities, and craft making. Listen to Indigenous storytelling and meet birds of prey like owls and eagles. Explore trails and a boardwalk awakening from winter. Buy local maple syrup and honey, and partake in a new scavenger hunt between Sainte-Marie and Wye Marsh.
