Events Description
This is Calgary’s only dedicated eco-conscious night market, and it’s doubling in size this year, with more than 40 curated and eco-vetted vendors taking over the indoor and outdoor spaces at Renfrew Community Association (811 Radford Road NE) from 5:00pm to 10:00pm.
Attendees can expect a mix of:
Vintage and upcycled clothing
Handmade jewellery, ceramics, and prints
Small-batch skincare and aromatherapy
Low-waste art, home goods, and decor
This year’s event comes at a time when environmental awareness is front of mind in Calgary. From Bird Canada’s support for United Way Day in Calgary to the City’s Mayor’s Environment Expo earlier this month, Calgarians are increasingly seeking ways to take part in local sustainability efforts. Gondek said of the city’s recent eco-friendly efforts:
“It’s always inspiring to see Calgary-based organizations stepping up for our community… Bird Canada’s partnership with United Way Calgary is a great example of how local innovation can help drive real social impact.”
The Change Makers Night Market transforms that momentum into action, giving Calgarians a hands-on way to support ethical local makers and low-waste practices.
Entry is free, and attendees are welcome to drop in at any time. Those who RSVP in advance will receive access to a market cash prize draw, early vendor sneak peeks, playlist voting, and a downloadable “Eco Night Out” guide to help with the city’s sustainability efforts.
The event will also raise funds for Skipping Stone, a Calgary-based non-profit supporting trans and gender-divers youth and their families.
“Markets like this don’t happen every weekend”, says Amanda Morrison, co-founder of Change Makers Collective. “This is the only one of its kind in Calgary. People come because they want to support small businesses that are actually walking the talk on eco-friendliness.”
“Our vendors aren’t just sellers – they’re community builders, educators, and creatives,” adds co-founder Adriane Gerrard Gauthier. “This market is a reflection of the kinds of economy we want to see more of.”
“It’s the first market I’ve done where the organizers actually ask about my process – where I source my materials, how I package things, and why I make what I make,” says Lynn Shrubsall, a returning maker from Basosi. “It makes all the difference.”
“I love shopping at Change Makers Collective because it’s such a great mix of local talent and thoughtful vendors. Everything feels curated with care – from handmade goods to vintage finds – and there’s always something unique that I actually want to take home. The vibe is super welcoming, and I appreciate how it’s built around sustainability and community without feeling over-the-top.” says customer Chantelle Brownlee
“What makes Change Makers different to me is how intentional it all feels; there’s real heart behind it, and it shows in every detail. It’s not just another market; it’s one that actually aligns with what matters to me.”
This is Change Makers Collective’s only night market of the year. A second summer market will follow on August 16 as part of a collaboration with the Vegan Street Music Festival.
The event is queer-inclusive, family-friendly, and zero-waste encouraged. Free parking is available on-site. Nearby transit access includes numerous bus stops near the venue and Bridgeland/Memorial C-Train Station (15-20 minute walk).
