Events Description

Taking a step to the front of the stage, Calgary’s Heather Cole debuts her bright and jazzy vocals, solo for the first time.

Cole’s Notes will bring back warm memories by reconnecting you with jazz, soul, blues, and pop legends of past and present – featuring songs by Ingrid Michaelson, Billy Joel, Lake Street Dive, Maren Morris, Linda Ronstadt, The Temptations, and many more.

After singing back up for the likes of Reuben and the Dark (Coca Cola Stage), The Tenors (Jubilee Auditorium), the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show, Carnegie Hall, and solo at the legendary Birdland Jazz Club (New York City), this eight-year veteran of Calgary’s popular Revv52 and ReMix vocal ensembles is taking the leap to share her unique sound.

Backing the songstress is a six-piece band, made up of some of the city’s most talented musicians. Band leader and guitarist Jay Scraba is a dynamic performer, songwriter, and music educator, who arranged each piece for Cole’s Notes. On drums, Nicolai Drost, a multi-talented musician, businessman, father, and carrot farmer! Bassist Derek Stoll is an educator and established performer in Calgary’s music scene, specializing in jazz piano and bass. Brandon Smith is an Alberta based keyboard player and recording engineer whose first love is rhythm and blues but he’s done every kind of project from EDM and hip hop to country and reggae. Kate Heney is a gifted and delightful vocalist, who will undoubtedly swoon you with her smooth and soulful sound. On trumpet, Al Muirhead is an inspiration to the Canadian music scene and is known as the “Elder statesman of Jazz Trumpet in Alberta”.
