Events Description
Oshkagoojin Indigenous Theatre for Youth (OITY) and Making Treaty 7 Cultural Society, in conjunction with The Confluence, are excited to offer FREE Indigenous Summer Theatre Workshops for Indigenous youth in Calgary. Youth ages 8–17 are invited to come get creative, tell stories, play theatre games, and explore Indigenous storytelling and theatre in a welcoming and supportive space.
Ages 8–12: Stories to Play in the City… and the Mountains will explore Indigenous storytelling through theatre games, movement, masks, creativity, imagination, and other theatre activities. Ages 13–17: Storytelling Writing Lab will give youth the opportunity to create original stories, develop characters, and explore their creative voice through writing, Indigenous storytelling, and theatre.
Youth are welcome to attend one or both workshop days, with each day designed as a stand-alone experience. Snacks will be provided, and participants are asked to bring a lunch and water bottle. Registration is FREE and spaces are limited to 20 participants.
