Events Description

The Honouring the Children art exhibit and residency will take place this month and act as a community hub, encouraging guests to learn more about Indigenous culture through a variety of artistic expressions. Work from a roster of 13 indigenous artists, honouring the lost children and survivors of residential schools, will be on display at the free exhibit, which will be open to visitors from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. Calgarians can also register online to participate in several free workshops, featuring traditional art forms such as fish scale painting, Inukshuk carving, beading, and dream catcher making. In addition, master blanket artisan Dale Swampy will host drop-in sessions on Fridays and Saturdays during which the public can learn about and contribute to the creation of a community star blanket.
