Events Description

Think Spring! is back on Saturday, February 8, 2025 – our theme this year is Growing Biodiversity.
This is an online day of learning to launch the growing season.

Winter is time for reflection on your garden and this year we invite you to reflect on your garden’s biodiversity. As our city grows larger and yards become smaller, it is increasingly important for urban gardens, even patio and balcony gardens, to provide a variety of habitat for the animals in our urban ecosystem. To help us consider options for growing biodiversity in our gardens, this year’s Think Spring! topics include moths, birds, urban biodiversity, and alternative lawn plants.

Keynote Speaker: Lyndon Penner – Moths: The Forgotten Pollinators presented by greengate Garden Centres

Beginning his work in the horticultural industry at the age of 16, Lyndon Penner now has more than 25 years of professional gardening experience. He has worked as a landscape designer, public speaker, and botanical tour guide as well as having written several best-selling books about gardening in short growing seasons.
