Western Canadian Reason Conference 2024

We are proud to present our second Western Canadian Reason (WeCanReason) Conference for 2024!

This event will feature provocative and thoughtful speakers and entertainers. Join with like-minded thinkers to share ideas and build community. WeCanReason is a conference dedicated to free thinkers skeptics and humanists who want to discuss and understand issues in society and work towards solving them. We have partnered with the Sandman as well as the University of Calgary Downtown Campus (across the street) to bring you this event.

Saturday we have 6 speakers lined up to both inform and entertain you. Our Keynote Speaker is Dr Cara Santa Maria. Dr. Santa Maria is a Clinical Psychologist with a concentration in Social Justice and Diversity. She co-hosts the Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe podcast.

Dr Eugenie Scott is an award winning author and an internationally-known expert on the creationism and evolution controversy science denialism and is called upon by the press and other media to explain science to the general public.

Jonathan Jarry is a science communicator with McGill University’s Office for Science and Society (OSS) dedicated to separating sense from nonsense on the scientific stage. He has a Master’s degree in molecular biology and he brings his experience in cancer research human genetics rehabilitation research and forensic biology to the work he does for the public.

Saturday May 4 – all day lineup of 6 speakers, University of Calgary Downtown Campus, including Dr Cara Santa Maria (Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe podcast), Dr Eugenie Scott (author, Evolution vs. Creationism: An Introduction) and many more.
Sunday May 5 – optional excursion to sight see (location TBD)
