Events Description
Join the Fight Against Global Poverty: World Partnership Walk Returns to Calgary on June 1!
Calgary—This spring Calgary residents will join Canadians from across the country for this year’s World Partnership Walk, Canada’s largest public movement dedicated to fighting global poverty. An initiative of Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC), the Walk is a national campaign that has shared the very best of what it means to be Canadian with the world since 1985.
The World Partnership Walk is open to everyone. Those interested can register for the campaign and join Walk Day at Prince Island Park on Sunday, June 1, to walk alongside passionate Canadians dedicated
to fighting global poverty. Those who can’t join on June 1 can participate anywhere and self-organize a walk with family, friends, and individually to show the world their support!
More than 700 million people live in extreme poverty (less than $2.15 a day), the majority of whom are in Africa and Asia. Joining the Walk is an opportunity for Canadians to engage with each other locally—in
their workplaces, schools, and communities—to raise critical funds for the world’s most vulnerable. In doing so, they are helping millions of individuals across Africa and Asia to lift themselves out of poverty.
