Events Description
Join members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Edmonton Centre, along with other parties, as we celebrate the 18th anniversary of the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve Declaration. This is an annual event held on the Sunday of the Labour Day weekend.
From 1:00PM – 5:00PM RASC on the lawn in front of the beach, members will have an information kiosk and telescopes set up for Solar viewing, WEATHER PERMITTING. The Sun has been very active this year and this is an opportunity to see Sun spots as well a solar prominences through our members telescopes, as well as talk astronomy.
At 8:00PM our featured speaker Dr. Sharon Morsink, from the U of A will deliver a presentation in the Astotin Lake theater on the topic “Our Place in Space“.
From 9:00PM nighttime viewing will take place, WEATHER PERMITTING, on the lawn in front of the beach. IN 2024 we had perfect weather for night time viewing and record crowds. Lets hope for the same in 2025.
