Events Description
University of Waterloo’s Winter 2026 theatre production, The Nether, looks at the ethical, psychological & moral implications of Virtual Reality and the ramifications of digital life. This haunting sci-fi thriller is mixed-reality (on stage & VR). Set in a near-future world where immersive virtual environments (the Nether) allow people to fully engage in dark, curated experiences, the play raises questions about identity, personal responsibility, free will, and the consequences of these digital spaces.
