Canada’s Inflation Falls to 1.6% in September

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1.6% in September compared to the previous year, marking a decline from August’s 2.0% increase. This is the smallest annual growth since February 2021. The primary factor in the slowdown was a sharper decrease in gasoline prices, which fell 10.7% year-over-year in September, compared to a 5.1% drop in August. Excluding gasoline, the all-items CPI rose 2.2%, consistent with August’s growth.
