Events Description
Animal helpers played an important role in rural life during the 1920s and 30s. Explore how animals continue to help with important jobs and tasks today. We’ll be joined at Cumberland Heritage Village Museum by several special guests including: Ottawa Police Canine Unit, Ottawa Valley Border Collie Club, Ottawa Volunteer Search and Rescue, Ontario Beekeepers’ Association, Rideau Search and Rescue Mounted Unit, River Institute (Cornwall), Safe Wings Ottawa, Wilhaven Ridge Alpacas, Working Whiskers (Ottawa Humane Society), and the Canadian Pigeon Fanciers Association. Learn more about the heritage breed farm animals who spend their summer at the museum, complete the obstacle course challenge, and more. Bonus! Participate in a hands-on demonstration of large-scale model locomotives with the Ottawa Valley Live Steamers and Model Engineers from 11 am to 3 pm.
