Events Description
De l’importance de gosser du bois (“On the importance of sculpting wood”) is a stage performance in which the survivor’s body becomes both a territory and a site of investigation. Through fragments of memory, vivid childhood images, and an absurd bestiary, Corinne conjures up the past. Staged in a disturbing yet occasionally humorous way, the play explores the role of allies, particularly men, in preventing and addressing sexual violence, while avoiding didacticism through a performative tone that blends dark humor with fierce tenderness.
The Sherbrooke-based company Traces et Souvenances, which brought us the workshop production of André Gélineau’s Ste-Johanne-des-Calvettes in 2023, has joined forces this time with theatre artists Corinne and Anne-Marie White to present a restorative perspective on trauma and the power of memory and its role in shaping our identity.
